Sharad Tewary was born and brought up in Allahabad. She received her primary education there and did M.A. at Allahabad University. Later, at Oxford University, England, she received training in teaching. After staying in Pilani, Rajasthan for some years, she is living in USA with her family for the past 32 years. She taught computers and experimental science in a middle school in Colorado for several years before retiring from service. She has always been interested in Hindi literature and cultural programmes and has organized several Indian dance and music programs in USA and has participated in a Hindi radio broadcast there.
