Born in Bijnor in a middle class family, I went to the University of Roorkee, now IITR, to study for B.Arch., but my predilection for Arts and literature impelled me to drop the course and shift to the study of literature. I took M.A. in English in 1977, and was conferred Doctorate for my thesis on Thomas Hardy. In 1918 I retired as Associate Professor.
I have been composing poetry in Hindi and English, written some stories, and have enjoyed oil painting too.
Some of my research papers, and my translation of the Sanskrit Jain epic 'Bhadrodaya" got published. some of my poems have been published in online magazines.
